Crispy Tostada Covered with Steak, Cheese, and Sour Cream

Steak, cheese and fries seems like a no-brainer. It works great in a burrito, so why not on a tostada? I used our grilled carne asada recipe and fried up some of our homemade corn tortillas. it’s really good. Kinda like a big steak nacho chip. Yummy.

California Tostada Recipe

Ingredients

corn tortillas or store bought tostadas
vegetable oil
grilled carne asada
chipotle sour cream
crispy french fries
avocado sauce
pan toasted arbol chile and tomatillo salsa
shredded Mexican Cheese

Preparation

Make your tostadas. Heat a high-sided pan over medium high heat and add about 1/4 to 1/2 inch of oil. Fry the tortillas one at a time until till golden and crispy. About 2-3 minutes. Carefully flipping a few time during cooking. Remove to a paper towel and set aside.

Grill the carne asada and let rest a few minutes before chopping into small bite size pieces. Make your chipotle sour cream, avocado sauce, and salsa. Bake or fry your french fries. I like to get ones you can bake and that come out nice and crispy.

Preheat the broiler in your oven. Lower the rack a bit. You don’t want to burn the cheese, just melt it. Cut up your french fries into small pieces and pile a small handful on a tostada. Cover with a small handful of cheese. Place on a foil covered baking pan and broil for a minute or so until the cheese is melted. Add some steak, salsa, avocado sauce, and sour cream. That’s it.
